Three Things to Ask Yourself Before Hiring a Fairfax Personal Trainer…

It’s the end of the calendar year and you are all pumped up to start that new years resolution fitness program and shed some of that unwanted body fat.  Take a step back and ask yourself these three important questions before handing your hard earned money over to a Fairfax area Personal Trainer…

  1. Is your trainer certified through a nationally recognized Personal Training organization?
Here are a couple of the most respected certifications in the industry:

    ACE- American Council on Exercise
    ISSA- International Sports Sciences Association
ACSM- American College of Sports Medicine
NSCCA- National Strength and Conditioning Association
NASM- National Academy of Sports Medicine.

At SPD Fitness we take pride in the fact that knowledge is
power.  All of our Fairfax Personal Trainers have a
nationally recognized certification.  It takes more than a
weekend course at the local Community College to work for
    Reston’s premiere Personal Training company.

  2. Has your trainer done a thorough assessment of your health and exercise history?  Sometimes trainers just put their clients through their own workout.  They figure if it is good for them it must be good for their clients…right?  Well if you are in as good shape as your trainer and have the same fitness goals as your trainer I guess it could be ok but, that is probably not the case.  Every client should have a custom program tailored to meet their exact fitness needs taking into account their physical limitations and health history.

  3. Have you set goals with your Personal Trainer and do you have a way to track your progress?  Trainers can be so eager to get clients training they never set specific goals for their clients.  It is very easy to lose motivation without a clear goal.  At SPD Fitness, your Fairfax Personal Trainer will help you define a fitness goal.  Everyone’s goal is different however; everyone’s goal will be SMART.
Specific, Measureable, Attainable, Realistic, TimelyWe track your progress with weekly weigh-ins, body fat composition checks, or exercise testing.  It is important to keep you on track and moving towards your goal!
